Description
Ipamorelin is a selective growth hormone
secretagogue. Rather than supplying growth hormone directly, it is studied for its
ability to stimulate the pituitary gland to release endogenous growth hormone. It acts as an
agonist at the ghrelin (GHS-R1a) receptor, producing a pulsatile release pattern in study
models. It is of research interest because it is comparatively selective, with markedly less
reported effect on cortisol and prolactin than earlier growth-hormone-releasing peptides.
The sections below summarise findings reported in published preclinical and early-stage literature. They describe what has been observed in study models, not outcomes offered to any purchaser.
Areas of Research Interest
Lean tissue and protein synthesis
- Studied for its relationship to muscle protein synthesis pathways
- Examined for lean-tissue preservation during caloric restriction in animal models
Lipid metabolism
- Investigated for its association with lipid mobilisation and fat oxidation
- Studied in combination with GHRH analogues such as tesamorelin in visceral-adipose research
Sleep architecture
Growth hormone secretion is concentrated in slow-wave sleep, so the relationship between
GHS-R1a agonism and sleep architecture is a recurring research question.
- Studied for effects on slow-wave sleep duration in study models
- Examined for changes in overnight growth-hormone pulse amplitude
Tissue repair signalling
- Investigated in preclinical models of tendon and ligament repair
- Studied in relation to connective-tissue remodelling
Dermal and integumentary models
Because growth hormone and IGF-1 signalling influence dermal structure, published research has
examined:
- Dermal thickness and elasticity markers
- Rate of wound closure in animal models
Much of the available evidence comes from animal and early-stage studies and has not been
confirmed in large controlled trials.
